Thierry BretonLes dix renoncements qui ont fait la France

A French business executive, corporate director, politician, and writer, THIERRY BRETON served as vice president of Bull (1996–1997), CEO of Thomson (1997–2002), and later CEO of France Télécom (2002–2005). He served as Minister of the Economy, Finance, and Industry in the Raffarin III government from 2005 to 2007, taught at Harvard Business School (2007–2008), and was CEO of the Atos Group from 2009 to 2019. Ranked in 2010, 2017, and 2018 among the world’s 100 top-performing CEOs according to the Harvard Business Review’s ranking, he also served as president of the National Association for Research and Technology and as an elected member of the Academy of Technologies. From 2019 to 2024, he served as European Commissioner responsible for the internal market, industrial policy, tourism, digital affairs, audiovisual media, defense, and space. In The Ten Sacrifices That Shaped France (Buchet-Chastel / Plon, 2025), he examines ten historical situations in which France sacrificed a core value. This analysis resonates strangely with the current political situation in France.
