A literary and cultural journey guided by Mariam Mussa and Chirine El Ahmedi, combining reading, context and conversation.
MARIAM MUSSA and CHIRINE EL AHMEDI hold bachelor’s degrees in Arabic language, literature, and civilization from the University of Geneva. Passionate about the Arab world, they founded a book club five years ago dedicated to the literature of this region.
Are you curious to discover or rediscover modern Arabic literature? This vast and varied body of work reflects the great cultural richness of the Arab world. The workshop invites you to explore this fascinating region through the lens of literature and to learn more about the historical, cultural, geopolitical, and societal contexts of the various countries covered, from the Maghreb to Lebanon, including Egypt and Palestine. Each session will aim to foster moments of discussion and sharing in a friendly atmosphere. The first session will be devoted to the novel The Disaster of the House of Notables (Philippe Rey / 2024 Arab Literature Prize) by Tunisian author Amira Ghenim.
