A rare encounter with Maurine Mercier, a leading voice in field journalisme, she has been awarded multiple times for the strength, rigour, and humanity of her perspective. Her podcast Carnets d'Ukraine on RTS.ch offers a different view of the war.
MAURINE MERCIER, a correspondent in Ukraine for RTS, Radio France, and RTBF, is a graduate of the Geneva Graduate Institute. She gained experience at TVRL, La Télé in Lausanne, Couleur 3, and the international desk at La Première before moving to Tunis in 2016 and then to Kyiv in August 2022. Her field reporting has been recognised with three Swiss Press Awards (2014, 2018, and Journalist of the Year 2023) and the 2022 Jean Dumur Prize, for which the jury noted: “Warm and serious in tone, rigorous and precise in her writing, the winner infuses her work with sincere empathy for the victims, without ever compromising her impeccable journalistic independence. ” Her podcast Carnets d’Ukraine on RTS.ch offers a different perspective on the war. She has received the prestigious Bayeux Prize for War Correspondents three times (2022, 2023, and 2025). She is the winner of the 2026 National Listening Prize for French middle and high school students.
