François de Saint-CheronMalraux, la légende d’un siècle

FRANÇOIS DE SAINT-CHERON, who holds a doctorate in literature and is an associate professor at the Sorbonne’s Faculty of Letters, has published L’esthétique de Malraux (Sedes, 1999), Malraux and the Poets (Hermann, 2016), Malraux Before Christ (DDB, 2024, Special Jury Prize at the André Malraux Prize), and Inspired Castile (DDB, 2026). He contributed to the editing of Malraux’s Complete Works in the Pléiade series. He is co-curator of the exhibition “Malraux, the Temptation of Cinema” (BNU, Strasbourg, 2026) and curator of the exhibition “Malraux, Art, and Friendship” (Maeght Foundation, 2026–2027). Who was the author of La Condition humaine, who died exactly fifty years ago, really? Drawing on rare accounts, François de Saint-Cheron will paint a portrait of a man free from caricatures, doing justice to the author of a body of work too often overshadowed by the glamour or controversies that marked the career of the adventurer, the combatant, and General de Gaulle’s minister.
