Colum McCann takes us beneath the surface of our hyperconnected world with Twist, a gripping novel of technology, isolation and human fragility.

Irish writer COLUM MCCANN’s seven novels and three collections of short stories have been published in over forty languages and received some of the world’s most prestigious literary awards and honours, including the National Book Award 2009 for his novel Let the Great World Spin (Airport & Export / Belfond). His novel TransAtlantic was longlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 2013, and Apeirogon (Bloomsbury/ Belfond, 2020, Prix Transfuge du Meilleur roman anglophone, Prix des lectrices ELLE and Prix du Meilleur Livre étranger) also longlisted for the Man Booker Prize, is an international bestseller on four continents. American Mother, an opera based on his book, with music by Charlotte Bray, premiered at Theatre Hagen, Germany in May 2025. Twist (Bloomsbury, 2025 / Belfond, 2026), his latest novel dives into the ocean along the west coast of Africa, exploring the network of tiny fibre-optic tubes that carry the world’s information across the ocean floor. This is a darkly epic novel about connection, disconnection and destruction.
