Brigitte SionThe album of the Nuremberg Trial
A selection of seventy archival photographs from the Nuremberg Trials offers a powerful visual testimony to this pivotal moment in history.
International expert in the field of museography, memorials, and heritage, BRIGITTE SION chairs the scientific advisory board of the Izieu Memorial. Together with Matthias Gemählich and Stéphanie Boissard, she co-authored Nuremberg: The Trial Album (Tallandier, 2025), an exceptional work that brings to life what countless books on the Nuremberg trials have described only in words. This trial, which took place from November 20, 1945, to October 1, 1946, tried twenty-four high-ranking officials of the Third Reich. At the conclusion of the hearings, an album containing 115 photographs was presented to French judge Henri Donnedieu de Vabres. This album, unique in Europe, is now preserved at the Maison d’Izieu. Drawing on a selection of seventy photographs—some of which have never been published—the authors present a deeply moving visual account of the most decisive trial of the 20th century.
