Bertrand BadieHow can peace be built in a world on the brink of chaos?

In partnership with the Geneva Peace Forum

Sun Tzu taught us the art of war. Leading scholar Bertrand Badie shows us just how much we stand to gain if we finally learned the art of peace.

A graduate of Sciences Po, the Institute of Oriental Languages, and advanced studies in 20th-century history, BERTRAND BADIE earned his doctoral degree in political science from Sciences Po in 1975 and his agrégation in political science in 1982. He is currently professor emeritus at Sciences Po Paris. He served as director of publications at Presses de Sciences Po (1994–2003) and as vice president of the International Political Science Association (2006–2009). He is the author of some forty seminal works. His most recent books include The Art of Peace (Flammarion, 2024), The Hour of the South, or the Invention of a New World Order, co-authored with Dominique Vidal (Les Liens qui Libèrent, 2024), and Beyond Power and War: The Mysterious Social Energy (Odile Jacob, 2026), are perfectly aligned with the Geneva Peace Forum. Rooted in Geneva’s ecosystem and spirit, the Geneva Peace Forum (formerly Geneva Peace Week) brings together decision-makers, experts, and representatives of civil society and international organizations from October 12 to 15 to reflect on the most pressing challenges related to peace and conflict prevention. It provides a space for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration aimed at developing concrete solutions to current crises. For more information, visit genevapeaceforum.ch
